The Year is Almost Over...

That's right. The year is about done. And for just starting out back in January of 2014, I can safely say that I have made decent progress. I have a Facebook page with 30 likes/followers/whatever, and I've posted about 80 reviews. That's progress to me. I won't be posting for the remainder of 2014, but I will get back to posts on the 7th of January, which is the 1 year mark for this blog. On that day, there will be one big post concerning my 5 favorite movies of the 2014, as well as the first year overview. Be sure to come back to check it out on January 7th. As for now, I hope you all have a good holiday season, merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or whatever else you celebrate around this time of year.

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies (2014) movie review

Well…. it’s the end of an adventure. An adventure that started back in December 2012, with An Unexpected Journey. It is the absolute best multi movie adventure I’ve had the fortune of experiencing in theaters.

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug (2013) movie review

If ever there was a movie in recent years that left an impression on me, Desolation of Smaug would be one of them.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) movie review

Since the new Hobbit movie is coming out pretty soon, I thought it’d be the proper time to review its predecessors. That’s how it usually goes on this blog, isn’t it?

And holy crap, I love this poster.

Hercules: Dwayne Johnson Edition (2014) movie review

As you can no doubt tell from the title of this review, I like to call this Hercules movie the ‘Dwayne Johnson Edition’. That’s so it’s easier for people to differentiate it from the other Hercules movie that came out back in January, which was horrendous. Believe it or not, people do have a hard time telling the two apart. But anyway, it’s time to review this. Just a couple months late.

Primeval (2007-2011) series review

A British sci-fi series about time travel…. except this series doesn’t screw with your head as much. And it has more dinosaurs, so that’s a plus. For those who haven’t seen it, this will be a non-spoiler review. Or as non-spoiler as I can make it.

Big Hero 6 movie review

I have a feeling that starting this weekend, movies are going to be getting good again. The year hit a dry spot at the end of August, and there hasn’t been much worth checking out. Even this blog has been affected by it. But now, it looks like it’s getting about time for theaters to be filled again… starting with Big Hero 6.

Avengers Phase 3 film lineup revealed!!!!

Marvel has revealed their film lineup for their Phase 3 Avengers films... and holy crap, is this awesome! I have little knowledge on what some of these storylines might be, but that's what patience is for. Anyway, let's take a look at the upcoming installments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Night of the Ghouls (1959) movie review

Ed Wood, one of the most infamous movie directors ever. This may not be the legendarily terrible Plan 9 From Outer Space, but it’s still one of the stupidest horror movies I’ve ever seen in my life.

The Monster of Piedras Blancas (1959) movie review

This one has the classic formula of a peaceful coastal village with a monster legend that turns out to be real. Might not be too original, but entertaining nonetheless. This review has some spoilers.

Night of the Blood Beast (1958) movie review

I knew I couldn’t go the month of Halloween without reviewing a Roger Corman movie. This one’s about a group of people trapped in a facility trying to survive attacks from an alien creature. The formula has been done before, it’s a simple and easy thing to do.... but it does try to be above the average horror movie by attempting to be smarter.... try and attempting are key words there.

Dracula Untold movie review

If there’s one word to define Dracula from this movie, that word would be…. Overpowered.

The Killer Shrews (1959) movie review

Starting with the 50’s horror theme of the blog this month for Halloween, we have The Killer Shrews. The title may be stupid, but you can’t deny the fact that it got your attention.

The Host (2006) movie review

I don’t know of too many South Korean monster movies, but this one just might be one of the best out there.

AE: Apocalypse Earth (2013) movie review

Yet another Asylum movie. I just can’t stay away from them, can I? This time, it’s there ripoff of After Earth, arguably the worst movie of 2013. Which means that someone who works for the Asylum, saw the trailer for After Earth, and said “yeah, that looks like it’ll be good. Let’s cash in on its success.” And thus, the piece of crap we have with us today, known as Apocalypse Earth, was born. Ugh.

Killer Mountain (2011) movie review

What do we have here? A low budget sci fi channel film that doesn’t completely suck eggs? That sure is rare!

Jurassic Park movie review

I never really intended to do a review of Jurassic Park on this blog. But with the recent passing of Richard Attenborough, I thought “what the heck, why not?” Plus, I have Jurassic Park on the mind, so that’s why.

And I am loving this poster by JC Richard!

The Dino King (2012) movie review

Another movie about dinosaurs with a completely forced and unnecessary voice over. Didn’t I already review a movie like that? Yes. But this is the slightly better version of that, released the year before. Slightly being the key word here.

Croczilla (2012) movie review

Croczilla... It’s a Croc-of-$hit! This is without a doubt one of the worst films I’ve ever seen in my life.

Walking With Dinosaurs 2013 movie review

Either this is the kind of stuff that kids find entertaining these days, or the executives at 20th Century Fox are a bunch of complete F#%KING IDIOTS. I’m not just disappointed by this movie, I’m pi$$ed off.

The Other Woman (2014) Movie Review... why?

I’ve never really seen too many ‘chick flicks’, I’m not a huge fan of ‘chick flicks’, and I have never once reviewed a ‘chick flick’ on this blog. So why am I starting now, and why this one? Well, the reason is because I have no freaking clue. I could bore you with the details of how I came across this, but I don’t think anyone would want to read about the strange events of my personal life, so let’s just get this one over with.

The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies Official Teaser Trailer

After that killer cliffhanger of the Desolation of Smaug, we have all been waiting patiently for the conclusion of the Hobbit movies. The first trailer was finally released, and it looks great!

This better be the best freaking conclusion to any story I've seen in my life, and I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same way. One thing I am concerned about is Smaug's screen time. Hopefully, he lives longer into the film than just the destruction of Lake Town, which may just be the first 20 minutes. If you read the book (SPOILER), you'd know he dies during the attack. Everyone, myself included, would love to see him have more to his role than that, because after a year of waiting, how disappointing would it be to have Smaug, one of the best CGI characters ever made, die in the first act? I don't care if that's unfaithful to the book, because I'm pretty sure there wasn't a battle of 5 armies in it. It'll just be a slight change. They can kill him with the black arrow later. But I'm going to bet that he does indeed die in the first act. Who knows?

First look at Wonder Woman from Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

This just now came to my attention. This is our first look at Wonder Woman from the upcoming Dawn of Justice movie.

Gal Gadot looks okay as Wonder Woman. Just okay. Not bad, not great. When she was first announced, my first thought was: "She is WAY too skinny to be Wonder Woman." But, it looks like she put on a few pounds of muscle to better fit the role, because Wonder Woman isn't a twig. She's an Amazonian warrior. Most of her curves are muscle. I can't say Gal Gadot fits under the 'curvy' category. In my opinion, she's still a bit too thin. And not to seem like a jerk, but.... her breast size isn't big enough. No disrespect to Gal Gadot, but Wonder Woman's chest is undoubtedly a D cup. I'm not saying this because I'm a perv, I'm saying this because it doesn't go with the right physical aspects of Wonder Woman. BUT... if she can pull of the Wonder Woman attitude, and play the role like she owns it, then it'll all be fine. If it were any other character, it wouldn't matter that much. But Wonder Woman is always a tall, built warrior. I'm just not seeing that here. The actual outfit is fine, but the woman inside it needs to put on a bit more weight and muscle in order for me or any other fan to say: "That's Wonder Woman."

Pacific Rim 2, Skull Island, and Godzilla 2, and more details

New Monsters Possibly Confirmed for Godzilla Sequel?!?!

San Diego Comic-con 2014 is underway, and word is spreading about 3 classic Toho kaiju returning to the big screen for the sequel to Legendary's Godzilla movie. From what I've read, there was a couple teaser videos for the attendees of SDCC. It is said that these videos revealed the kaiju that may be appearing in the next Godzilla movie:

RODAN

MOTHRA

and

KING GHIDORAH!!!!

I almost crapped my pants. Almost. Hopefully, Legendary worked out a deal with Toho so they could use these kaiju. I'm still not sure they will 100% absolutely be in the film yet. It's so early, and Gareth has to work on a Star Wars spin-off movie before he returns to Godzilla. But from all the buzz I've seen so far on the web, I can at least say that it's a high possibility. I'll either need to see the video myself, or get confirmation straight from Legendary in order to properly squeal like a Twilight fangirl.

Jack the Giant Killer movie review

I lied. Transmorphers isn’t next. I just came across this one, and I knew I couldn’t pass this opportunity up. This is Jack the Giant Killer, only existing because Jack the Giant Slayer from 2013 exists.

Atlantic Rim (alt. title: Attack From Beneath) movie review

It’s only fitting that the first Asylum movie I review is a rip-off. This one, if you can’t tell by the title, is a rip-off of Pacific Rim. How could any movie studio take the concept of kaiju fighting giant mechas and make it the most boring thing ever? I don’t know how, but the Asylum did.

The Asylum Studios: The Grand Champions of Rip-off Movies

What to look forward to in July 2014

Last month was pretty eventful, with the release of How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Transformers: Age of Extinction, which are both going to be somewhere in my top 5 films of the year. The month of July has only 2 films of enough interest to me that I'd like to see in theaters, but I might change my mind about one or two others and go see them as well. No promises. Anyway, the films I am definitely going to see are:

Lucy- July 25.

This one looks cool. It's where these criminals surgically implant a bag of drugs inside Scarlet Johansson's belly, so she can transport them without detection. Unfortunately, the bag starts leaking, and instead of killing her, like I'm sure everything else would if this happened, it gives her access to more of her brain capacity, which basically gives her superpowers! Jeez! What sort of drugs is she transporting? If it does all that, then it must be the REALLY good stuff! Where can I find that? (joking. Don't send the DEA on me)

Hercules- July 25.

I like to call it, Hercules: Dwayne Johnson Edition. This one has to be better than the Legend of Hercules movie earlier this year. There is no way this one can be as bad or worse. It might not be fantastic, but everyone KNOWS it'll be astronomically better. While Dwayne Johnson isn't the best actor, he sure is a better Hercules than... whoever the heck they got to play the role in the last one. I think he was in one of the Twilight movies. When I look at that... stupid, untalented, ugly kid from the last movie, I don't see Hercules. Not a trace. When I look at Dwayne Johnson, I DEFINITELY see Hercules! He is the perfect guy to play the role in this movie! Will this be fantastic? Probably not, but I can guarantee it'll be a lot more fun and enjoyable than the other.

And those are the only movies this month that I know I am going to see and review. I'm on the fence about seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Planes: Fire and Rescue looks a lot funnier than I thought it would be, but I'd much rather wait until it comes out on rental. I'll figure out what I'm going to do before July 25th. I guess I'll review some bad sic fi films from the 50's or something. Or I could review bad sic fi films from recent years.... and I think I know JUST the studio with the most crappy films to choose from... oh yes....

Transformers: Age of Extinction SPOILER FREE movie review

I have one question. One, singular question…. why is this movie getting bashed and hated? It seemed fine to me!

Top 10 Best Transformers Movie Moments

While I wouldn’t say Transformers is the best film series ever, it does have its great moments. A majority of these moments are in the action scenes. They’re mostly the only parts anyone cares about with these movies, and those parts are usually done well. This is my Top 10 BEST Transformers Live Action Movie Moments. Some spoilers are present.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie review

This is arguably the best of the trilogy. It’s a huge improvement over the second, and it’s on a larger and grander scale than both prior movies. Sure, critics still hate it, but who cares what they say? Dark of the Moon is a great film nonetheless. This review has MAJOR SPOILERS, because I feel like I need to go over some of the major plot points in order to give a proper review of this film. If you haven’t seen it, you have been warned.

Transformers 2007 movie review

What can I say about this? It’s one of my favorite movies of all time! Yeah, not every day on the internet that you see someone who doesn’t hate the live action Transformers movies and doesn’t think they ruined cinema forever.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 movie review

The sequel to How to Train Your Dragon is finally here! How does it hold up to the first? I’d say extremely well. Extremely, as in Fan-Tucking-Fastic!!! This movie is proof that this summer is going to kick major @$$!!!

21 Jump Street (2012) review

The sequel is coming soon, so I said to myself “Why not?” and gave 21 Jump Street a watch. This is my first real attempt at reviewing a comedy, so let’s hope it goes smoothly.

How to Train Your Dragon (2010) review

Now that the sequel is coming up in a few days, it’s time to review How to Train Your Dragon, otherwise known as One of My Favorite Animated Films of All Time. But that's just my opinion.

Edge of Tomorrow movie review

Groundhog’s Day… and D-Day… with an alien invasion… and Tom Cruise…. How is this not worth seeing this at least once? Also, the D-Day-esque movie comes out on the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Huh.

Frozen movie review

I might be a few months late for getting to this, but I was about 60 years late for my Godzilla movie reviews, so it shouldn’t be too bad. It’s time to review Frozen.

What to look forward to in June of 2014

I decided to start doing a monthly update thing for the blog. At the start of each month, I'll make a schedule of all the new releases that I am definitely going to see and review. I already know what new films I'm seeing in June of 2014, but I also have plans to review other movies, so be sure to check for all of that. Here's June's schedule.

June 6- Edge of Tomorrow

June 8- 21 Jump Street (2012)

June 10- How to Train Your Dragon

June 13- How to Train Your Dragon 2 & 22 Jump Street

June 15- Transformers (2007)

June 20- Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

June 25- Transformers: Dark of the Moon

June 27- Transformers: Age of Extinction

Keep in mind, there might be slight changes, like a date getting pushed back a bit, or a movie that's not listed getting reviewed, but overall, this is how I am hoping it will go. I am looking forward to all these movies, most of all, Age of Extinction. Let's hope the summer movie season delivers well.

Monsters: Dark Continent trailer

I might not be a music genius, and rap is certainly not my thing, but the rap in this trailer is one of the worst I've ever heard.

A couple weeks ago, during my Godzilla countdown leading up to the new film, I reviewed a film called Monsters. It was directed by Gareth Edwards, who also directed the new Godzilla. I was bored out of my mind by Monsters. It was too slow paced and there was no payoff for the suspense. Scenes dragged on too long and the characters were stupid. I didn't like it. But apparently, it's getting a sequel. Oh boy.

What happened? It looks like a completely different type of movie than the first one! The first one was (trying) to be an adventure film. Now it looks like the monsters aren't even the focus (not that they ever were). Seems more like a dramatic, gritty, war movie. I don't know what to think of it. The guy rapping sounds like he's half asleep. If it's the main character doing it, then I KNOW we're in for a thrill ride! Might as well be asleep with him. The monsters, for the short glimpses we get, actually look really cool. They seem a lot more creatively designed than the generic giant squids we got last time. To be honest, it does look like there's a lot more action in this one, but how much of it there is remains a mystery until its release date, which is September, if I remember correctly. It might be decent, or it could be as boring as the first. Who knows? You can bet I'll (try to) give it a watch the first chance I get.

Godzilla 2014 vs 1998 and 1954: Movie comparison

It’s been about a week since my last review, so I decided to do one more thing Godzilla related before moving on. This time, I will be doing a comparison between the newest movie, the original 1954 film, and 1998. There will be minor spoilers.

Guardians of the Galaxy new trailer!

A new trailer for the Guardians of the Galaxy is out! If you don't know who these heroes are... then I'm the worst possible person to answer your questions. I can at least try. So keep reading after the trailer if you want to know more... or if you want to laugh at my feeble attempts to inform people, that's fine, too.

Godzilla sequel in the works!

I don't normally do updates on this kind of thing, because at this point in time I'm still a really small blog, so people would hear this before I tell about it, but I've been doing nothing but Godzilla since March, so why not?

Godzilla has made a HUGE amount of money on its opening weekend. Over $90 million in America, and a cumulative of $196 million worldwide. Godzilla has broken records for this year, and even it beat Iron Man 3's May release last year. With numbers like that, there will most definitely be a sequel, but I didn't think it would be announced so quickly! Warner Brothers and Legendary are already developing it! This is good news, because maybe this next movie will show more kaiju action.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm guessing it will be either 2016 or 2017 at the latest. I'm hoping Toho will give the studios rights to more of their monsters. How cool would it be to see Rodan, or Anguirus, or Varan... or King Ghidorah?!? That would be awesome!

We'll just have to wait a bit to see what they'll do. I'm looking forward to it.

GODZILLA: 2014 Review!!!!

The wait is finally over! Godzilla, King of the Monsters, has returned to reclaim his throne! I’ve been so excited for this movie, and I was really hoping it would be worth the wait, and it was.

Monsters (2010) review: Godzilla Countdown #29-ish

This is the ‘big surprise’ of the Godzilla Countdown. Woo hoo. Yay. Big surprise. Anyway, this isn’t a Godzilla film at all, but it is related to the new movie coming out rather soon. How? Because they both have the same director: Gareth Edwards. This is his first and only other film, as far as I know. It’s an indie film from 2010.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 review

One word to sum up the ending: heartbreaking. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, I can’t say why the ending is so sad. You’ll most likely see it spoiled somewhere else, though.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2012 review

Some see this as just a move by Sony to keep the rights to Spider-Man. I see it as a way to keep one of my favorite superheroes out of the Avengers… but I still liked this movie.

Godzilla: IDW Comics review: Countdown to Godzilla's Return #27

In 2011, the comicbook publishing company known as IDW released their first Godzilla series, called Kingdom of Monsters. I don’t follow IDW that much, but I do like their Transformers comics. So, naturally, I was curious to see what this was like. For your information, this is my first time reviewing comicbooks, so bear with me.
