Jason and the Argonauts (1963) movie review

Is Percy Jackson too much of a YA movie for you? Disney’s Hercules not accurate enough to the old stories? Well, here’s a film from 1963 that’s an adaptation of one of the most famous of the Ancient Greek tales, the Quest for the Golden Fleece… and it’s well deserving of being called a classic.

The Hunger Games Trilogy and 1/3 (2012-2015) movie series review

I’ll be covering all four of the Hunger Games films in one review, each one of the… ‘quadrilogy’? Would that be the term? Well, since Mockingjay was split into two parts, would that technically make it a trilogy and ⅓?

Spectre (2015) movie review

Did the latest 007 installment keep up the amazingness that Skyfall brought to the series in 2012? Well… no.

The Peanuts Movie (2015) review

There are people who don’t like it when classic characters are brought to the big screen in modern times because they feel like a modern ‘interpretation’ is way too different from the source material. Well, with The Peanuts Movie, it feels exactly like a classic Charlie Brown cartoon, and it is fantastic!

King Kong Lives (1986) movie review

I have one question. A five word question with no real answer: why was this movie made?

The Martian (2015) movie review

Based on the novel by Andy Weir, this film reinforces the wondrous feeling of never wanting to go to mars, to space, or even so much as LOOK at a spaceship again whatsoever.

God's Not Dead (2014) movie review

God’s Not Dead…. Well, with the way this movie turned out, you’d just about come to the exact opposite conclusion.

Mortal Kombat (1995) movie review

Not only is this a movie based on a video game, but it’s a movie based on a video game made in the 1990’s. Let that sink in.

Fant4stic (2015) movie review by a friend

I’m sure by now you’ve heard how much of a failure the most recent Fantastic 4 has been, in both box office performance and critically. Well, I have yet to subject myself to this movie... but my best friend has! He called me after he got out of a screening and was crying hysterically. Apparently, it was so much worse than what I’ve heard anyone else say so far. So, I’m going to let him write this review. The whole thing, besides this intro, will be his writing. If it looks like it was written with nothing but unbridled rage, that’s because it was.

Son of Kong (1933) "movie" review

I’m almost positive that most people reading this didn’t know that this movie existed. You’ll wish you hadn’t heard of it. You’ll wish it was never made. It is a candidate for one of the worst sequels ever put to film. Worse than the straight to video Disney sequels.

Monsters: Dark Continent (2014) movie review

Just what this world needed- a sequel to one of the most boring movies ever made. But this time… it’s somehow even worse.

Ant-Man (2015) movie review

If Guardians of the Galaxy didn’t prove to you that Marvel can take any of their comic book characters, no matter how weird, strange, silly, or unknown, and turn it into a hit that most people love and enjoy, then I believe that their latest feature, Ant-Man, will.

Earth VS the Flying Saucers (1956)

It’s been a while since I reviewed a 1950’s scifi movie, and what better way to get back to it than with a classic like Earth VS the Flying Saucers?

Divergent (2014) movie review

This is a story about a teenage girl trying to overcome her oppressive, corrupt government that tries to control everybody, and the only one she truly trusts is her boyfriend. So basically, its Hunger Games, but without any games…. unless you count those ‘faction test’ things as the stand in.

Gone Girl (2014) movie review

This one film has messed with my mind and expectations more than anything else I’ve ever seen.

Inside Out (2015) movie review

Pixar has been out of the game for a little while. Their last good movie was Toy Story 3 in 2010. Ever since, their quality has been rather lacking. With the release of their latest movie, Inside Out, I’m happy to say that they have finally gotten themselves back into gear, giving audiences a film worthy of being a Pixar movie.

Into the Storm (2014) movie review

I could tell just by the trailers that this wasn’t going to be all that good. I somehow got around to watching it recently, and I found out I was wrong with my original assumptions- it was far worse than I expected.

Jurassic World (2015) movie review

The first movie was about not messing with the balance of nature. The second movie was about leaving nature alone. The third movie was about how to ruin a franchise. This one, Jurassic World, is about HOLY SHIT!! This is, without a doubt, the most exciting movie I’ve been to all year!

Jurassic Park 3 (2001) movie review [spoilers]

Jurassic Park 3 is basically the equivalent of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. It looks kinda cool sometimes, but there’s no real point in its existence. Especially now, since Jurassic World has erased this one from its timeline, along with The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

And no, the Pteranodons aren't as cool, ominous, or threatening as this poster makes them out to be.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) movie review [spoilers]

To this day, I don’t see why The Lost World: Jurassic Park gets so much hate. Did they really expect anything to surpass the original Jurassic Park? People had (and still have) an unrealistic expectation of sequels. It’s rare that any sequels are just as good as the first, so why unfairly compare the two movies? Especially in this case, where the movies being compared were supposed to be completely different from each other?

San Andreas (2015) movie review

If you’re a fan of destruction like I am, then you are going to have a lot of fun with San Andreas. It’s not too deep with character or story, but would you really expect that from a movie like this?

Transformers Cinematic Universe - New Writers and Future Concepts (TFCU update #1)

In case you haven't figured it out yet, Transformers movies will not stop being made any time soon. They will keep coming. But now, it's expanding into a cinematic universe, like Avengers did... and how Ghostbusters will do... along with Men in Black combining universes with 21 Jump Street... oh boy.

Tomorrowland (2015) movie review

When I saw other reviews for this, I asked only one question- Did they see the same movie that I did? Because I don’t know how they couldn’t see the value in this film.

It's a beautiful poster. Admit it.

King Kong (1933) movie review

The Lost World changed cinema forever in 1925. Nobody could have guessed that film would be revolutionized just a mere 8 years later… with the same guy leading the charge.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) movie review

I was planning on skipping Mad Max: Fury Road to rent it later or something. It’s not the type of film I’d usually go see in theaters. But a friend of mine talked me into seeing it. For an unplanned trip to the movies, it was surprisingly a great time! I’ve heard everyone online rave about how amazing this film is, and after seeing it, I’d have to agree. It is the most action packed movie of the year so far.

Avengers: Earths' Mightiest Heroes (2010-2012) animated series review

Marvel may be dominating the big screen in recent years, but before Daredevil, how well was it holding up on TV? Not very. At least, not until 2010, when Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes first started airing.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) SPOILER FREE movie review

I hear that the original cut of Age of Ultron was over 3 hours long. I’d very much like to see that version, because I did not want this movie to end!

The Lost World (1925) movie review

Not only is this the great-grandfather of the giant monster genre, but it’s the great-grandfather of the big budget blockbuster action movies we’re so used to seeing these days. This is where special effects as we know them today came from. This is The Lost World.

Notable Updates 4/20/15- Trailer overload, record breaks, and more!

Just in this past few days, a lot has come up. So much has been released that's gotten so many people excited for so many different things. As far as I know, not much else is happening for a while, so I'll cover what I can while I can.

Daredevil season 1 (2015) review

After the 2003 travesty of a movie, Marvel was more than sure to make Daredevil awesome again. I believe that not only reached their goal, but jumped over it and kept going.

Furious 7 (2015) movie review

I never thought I would ever say that any Fast and Furious movie made me cry. But this one did. I haven’t cried this hard since The Battle of the Five Armies. This is the movie to see this entire month. So, get ready for Furious 7. Get ready for One Last Ride.

Fast and Furious 6 (2013) movie review

I’m glad that these films have finally hit their stride. Fast 5 was the big game changer, and Fast and Furious 6 continues this streak of greatness.

Fast 5 (2011) movie review

Without a doubt, out of the 5 I’ve seen so far, this one is the absolute best. It tops everything that the last four movies have done combined. Everything is better, and everything about this movie is fantastic. I could only have hoped these films would get this great! I didn’t expect it to be this big of a step forward!

Fast and Furious (2009) movie review

Not only is the lack of a number in the title annoying, but the resemblance to the first film’s title is confusing. To people who don’t know, they might think this is the first one. But it’s actually the fourth. They think the lack of ‘the’s makes it different. It doesn’t. It just messes with people.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) movie review

I would make a comment about how stupid it is that they quit numbering the sequels, but this film is only so loosely connected to the rest of the franchise, I can’t blame them.

2 Fast 2 Furious (2003) movie review

This is one of the few times that a sequel is better than the original. And 2 Fast 2 Furious is better than its predecessor by a landslide.

The Fast and the Furious (2001) movie review

Cool cars, cool car races, gang-ish stuff (I think?), and skimpily clothed women? What more could you want from a movie? The only thing that I think would make The Fast and the Furious more awesome was if the cars were Transformers. That’d be the best movie on the face of the planet.

Transformers live action films going towards cinematic universe

There's been some pretty big news for the Transformers franchise. There's a new writer hired which will be creating a sort of expanded universe for the live action movies. Which means more sequels and spinoffs. This could be either good or bad.

The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953)

This is a quintessential monster movie for any fan of the genre.

What's the deal with people in the posters always saying "it's alive"? Dead things can't crush families under its foot, genius.

Cinderella (2015) movie review

We’ve had new iterations of Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. Neither of those worked out that well. But does Cinderella fall into that mess with the others? No. It doesn’t.

Kingsman: The Secret Service movie review

The first thing I have to say is “Screw extreme winter weather for not letting me be able to see this movie earlier.” But It’s better late than never, everyone. And after seeing this, I can say that I’m glad I went to see it in theaters.

The Croods (2013) movie review

Once again, I was pleasantly surprised by another animated movie. That’s happening a lot, these days.

Spider-Man with Marvel Studios / Better Call Saul premiere

Too much news to go through for a small Facebook post, so I'm posting this here. There's quite a bit to go over, so let's do it one at a time.
