It's obvious that Marvel's doing extraordinarily well with their cinematic universe. Having all their films tie into each other is working in their favor. Well, Paramount Studios has hired Akiva Goldsman as the writer for this new direction. He's won an Oscar and a Golden Globe back in 2001, for A Beautiful Mind. That's some talent right there. But... he's got a few... bad movies under his belt. Need I say anything else other than... Batman and Robin?
I know. It sounds horrible, but this guy redeemed himself to a decent extent with his Oscar grab. I think. Honestly, I don't think it was his fault for that abomination. It was the director of Batman and Robin that wanted to make the movie that way. He's hardly to blame for 90% of it.
There's still no news, as far as I know, of Michael Bay returning for directing the movies. I hope not. I think Bay is alright, but I'd really like to see someone else tackle the franchise for a change. Maybe the new director will bring some more credibility to the Transformers films. And with an expanded universe, that can mean one thing....
One... AT LEAST ONE of the future installments will focus on the actual Transformers instead of the humans. This has been a common complaint of mine and of 99% of other people that the films focus too much on the humans. The first one had a nice balance. The other 3 were imbalanced. I hope whoever is in charge of these films can take them in a nice direction that follows the real characters. Doing that will make more people like the films. A LOT more people. Critics, maybe.
Whatever the next Transformers movie is, I hope that it follows Optimus Prime's mission in space, where the 4th film left off. I'm still on board with these movies. All the way.
Speaking of Transformers, pretty soon, there's going to be a few Transformers related reviews coming up. If you're interested in Transformers outside the films, then you'll want to check those out.
